Tatiana Fetisova

Tatiana Fetisova is a London-based Russian artist whose work explores the fragile beauty of the human experience through a distinctive approach she has coined as balloonized realism. Working primarily in oil on canvas, Fetisova transforms natural forms into luminous balloon art, with figures that appear both playful and profoundly delicate. Her paintings invite viewers to reflect on the tension between strength and vulnerability, permanence and impermanence, hope and fear.

Fetisova originally trained in mathematical statistics and built a career in tech before devoting herself entirely to art in 2023. In her dedication to art, Fetisova enrolled at Putney School of Art & Design to strengthen her skill. Her artwork draws inspiration from personal experiences of relocation and cultural transition, as well as artistic influences ranging from Monet’s luminous Rouen Cathedral series to Jeff Koons’ playful Balloon Dogs, Alison Watt’s meditative still lifes, and Jess Allen’s explorations of shadow and memory.

Her practice begins with careful studies of flowers, plants, animals and objects, reshaping them into forms that feel weightless but charged with meaning. By keeping backgrounds simple and compositions bold, Fetisova gives each subject room to breathe – allowing viewers to encounter not only the image, but also the emotions behind it.

Collectors and curators alike have noted her ability to transform fragility into hope, using vivid colour and precise, mathematical draftsmanship to create contemporary oil paintings that feel intimate, resonant, and deeply human.

Fetisova’s balloon art paintings have been exhibited widely in London and across Europe, including the London Art Biennale, Chelsea Art Society’s Summer Exhibition, and the Florence Contemporary Gallery.

Artist Statement

”My work is a visual exploration of the delicate balance between strength and vulnerability. Through oil on canvas, I delve into the human experience – its fragility, its fleeting beauty, and the emotional depths that connect us all.

My art is deeply personal and universal at the same time. Moving from country to country, in search of a place to call home, I have experienced the longing for stability and the tenuous sense of belonging that accompanies each transition. I employ bright, vivid colours to transform the negative effects of fragility into a hopeful vision for a brighter future, reflecting my belief that resilience can flourish even in our most vulnerable states.

Each painting becomes a space where I translate shifting senses of fear and hope into colour and form. As I continue to explore these themes, I hope viewers will see their own stories reflected in my work, recognizing that moments of vulnerability can also be sources of profound strength. Ultimately, my goal is not only to spark reflection and dialogue but also to motivate people to find hope in their darkest days, reminding them that crises often open the way for powerful growth and transformation.”
