Danny Holmes-Adams

Danny Holmes-Adams is a British contemporary artist known for his luminous, expressive paintings that celebrate the human response to the beauty and unpredictability of nature and everyday life.

Born in March 1978, Danny developed his skills early in his family’s signwriting business and later studied painting and drawing in Canterbury. Often seen painting outdoors, he becomes fully immersed in his surroundings, working until the light fades, his jacket soaked and paint-smudged.

Things from the Cupboard
“The Things from the Cupboard series is just that. I choose these well-known and well-loved objects and study them through the tradition of still life.
The objects, or their brands, fuel nostalgia, connecting to a memory, a person, a place, or a stage of life. Perhaps this is a universal feeling. These items are familiar; they’ve been handled and experienced. For the painting to succeed, it needs to capture their weight and proportions with care.
The paintings invite us to look more closely at light, space, and surface through colour. I aim to inspire the viewer to pause and tap into a very human moment, the act of finding things in the cupboard.”
