María Cano (b. 1990, Bogotá, Colombia) is a contemporary visual artist and ceramicist whose practice treats clay as a living cultural archive. Bridging fine art with heritage preservation, she collaborates with traditional pottery communities in Colombia to document ancestral knowledge. Her technical research focuses on the architecture of fire, designing experimental kilns to master the unpredictable transformations of the clay. Holding a BFA from the Universidad de los Andes and an MA from London’s Kingston University, María channels these territory-specific techniques through her studio, Salvaje, to create complex contemporary sculptures that explore material memory.
