Metamorphosis

Maria Paula Suarez is a Colombian artist based in New York who works with coloured pencils and embroidery on paper. Suarez has developed a careful, research-led approach to her materials, paying close attention to paper and process. Her work reflects on language, nature, and everyday experience, and she sees art as a way to slow down, find balance, and care for what feels fragile. Influenced by artists who work with words and shaped by memories of watching her mother paint, Suarez uses her practice as a way to make sense of her own life and the world around her.
