Demi Overton creates works on paper using watercolour, pinpricks, and thread, developing a practice that is both abstract and minimal. Each piece begins with a map. Drawing from aerial landscapes and contour maps, Demi studies mountains, deserts, canyons, and shifting topographies, translating their lines, heights, and rhythms into carefully constructed compositions.

Pattern, mapping, and process are at the core of Demi’s practice. Her work involves extensive planning before the final making begins, where she finally allows space for chance as the watercolour settles and threads form unexpected gradients.
