Tom Holland

Tom Holland

Tom Holland is a contemporary British artist whose practice is rooted in a lifelong engagement with the natural world. Drawing on a deep appreciation for colour, form, and structure, his paintings are informed by a process of observation and distillation—reducing visual experience to its essential elements. Through an interplay of line, shape, and tone, Holland’s work captures the atmosphere and emotional resonance of place.

His creative process begins in the landscape, where he documents his surroundings through sketches, photographs, and written notes. These field studies are later developed into finished works in his studio, where he explores the nuances of light, space, and memory through a considered painting practice.

With a professional career spanning over seventeen years, Holland’s work is held in private collections across the UK, Europe, and the United States. He has exhibited widely, with notable showings at Gallery Tresco (Isles of Scilly), Fowey River Gallery (Fowey), The Atrium Gallery (Truro), and D Contemporary (Mayfair, London), among others.

Holland draws particular inspiration from the Isles of Scilly, whose ever-changing light and expansive vistas offer a constant source of renewal. His paintings seek to convey not only a sense of place but also the emotional cadence of being present in the landscape—offering the viewer an invitation to pause, reflect, and connect with the quiet beauty of the natural world.
